Transportation
Getting to the Northeast Ismaili Games
Option 1 — By Train (fastest, most comfortable)
Amtrak's Northeast Corridor runs straight into 30th Street Station, a flat 10–15 minute walk from the venue (or a 5-minute rideshare). No transfers needed. One-way fares run roughly $15–$80 depending on your city and how far ahead you book. Note: Acela is faster but may be priced higher.
Option 2 — By Bus (budget-friendly)
FlixBus, Greyhound, Megabus, and Peter Pan all serve Philadelphia, with one-way fares around $15–$45. Buses arrive at the intercity terminal at 10th & Filbert Streets in Center City, so you'll take a short SEPTA ride to UPenn (see below). Compare carriers on their sites or an aggregator like Wanderu.
Local Transit: Getting to UPenn on SEPTA
Once you're in Philadelphia, SEPTA gets you to campus. Two lines stop within a short walk of the venue:
Market-Frankford Line (the "L"): Exit at 34th Street Station, at the northern edge of campus — about a 5–7 minute walk to Pottruck (3701 Walnut Street).
Trolley (Subway-Surface "T" lines): Exit at 36th & Sansom or 37th & Spruce, right in the heart of campus — about a 2–4 minute walk to Pottruck. These stops drop you closest to UPenn.
Both lines run east–west through Center City, so they're easy to catch from most downtown points, including the 10th & Filbert bus terminal.
Note: SEPTA fare is $2.90 per ride, paid by tapping a contactless credit/debit card or phone (Apple/Google/Samsung Pay), a SEPTA Key card, or cash with exact change. Your first two transfers are free within 2 hours if you tap the same card. Kids under 12 ride free with a fare-paying adult.
